The Snark SN-1 Guitar Tuner is a simple and compact tuner. The Snark SN- is quick and easy to clip onto the head of the guitar and the display swings in any direction and any angle for easy reading.

Snark SN-1 Guitar Tuner features

The Snark’s SN-1 has great features for the price. The size of the display is large enough to be read easily. The display is bright and in full color, so it is very easy to see when you are in tune. The SN-1 nodel does not have a mic feature meaning it can only detect vibration. The default tuning reference is that can be adjusted. There is a tap metronome that “beats” to the tempo. You can either tap in the tempo or use the UP/DOWN keys to adjust it.

The Snark SN-1 works anywhere on the head stock, meaning that there are no dead spots that you can get on cheap guitar tuners.  The Stay Put tuner clip keeps the tuner firmly in place so it can be left on the guitar and used in practice or during live performances.

SN-1 Power saving

It has a power saving feature that dims the display when there is no sound. If the tuner detects a sound, the display reverts to normal brightness. If no sound is detected for some time, the tuner shuts off. The tuner uses a single disk battery, (one is supplied with the tuner).

SN-1 Transpose tuning

The tuner also features the ability to transpose the tuning. This is useful if you need to re-tune while using a capo on the instrument. If your string is tuned to a certain level and you place the capo at the designated fret, the string will play a G when plucked. If you set the tuner to transpose for a capo at another level of rhythm you pluck the string, the readout will display a different clef rather than a G.

Snark SN-1 Guitar Tuner Conclusion

You can usually pick up the SN-1 online from Amazon for around $10. At below $10 it is great value.  The Snark SN-1 guitar tuner is very durable, retro looking tuner. It has great features for the price, but there are better tuners available if your budget will stretch above $10.
