The Snark SN-1 Guitar Tuner is a simple and compact tuner. The Snark SN- is quick and easy to clip onto the head of the guitar and the display swings in any direction and any angle for easy reading.

Snark SN-1 Guitar Tuner features

The Snark’s SN-1 has great features for the price. The size of the display is large enough to be read easily. The display is bright and in full color, so it is very easy to see when you are in tune. The SN-1 nodel does not have a mic feature meaning it can only detect vibration. The default tuning reference is that can be adjusted. There is a tap metronome that “beats” to the tempo. You can either tap in the tempo or use the UP/DOWN keys to adjust it.

The Snark SN-1 works anywhere on the head stock, meaning that there are no dead spots that you can get on cheap guitar tuners.  The Stay Put tuner clip keeps the tuner firmly in place so it can be left on the guitar and used in practice or during live performances.

SN-1 Power saving

It has a power saving feature that dims the display when there is no sound. If the tuner detects a sound, the display reverts to normal brightness. If no sound is detected for some time, the tuner shuts off. The tuner uses a single disk battery, (one is supplied with the tuner).

SN-1 Transpose tuning

The tuner also features the ability to transpose the tuning. This is useful if you need to re-tune while using a capo on the instrument. If your string is tuned to a certain level and you place the capo at the designated fret, the string will play a G when plucked. If you set the tuner to transpose for a capo at another level of rhythm you pluck the string, the readout will display a different clef rather than a G.

Snark SN-1 Guitar Tuner Conclusion

You can usually pick up the SN-1 online from Amazon for around $10. At below $10 it is great value.  The Snark SN-1 guitar tuner is very durable, retro looking tuner. It has great features for the price, but there are better tuners available if your budget will stretch above $10.

The Snark SN-5 Tuner for Guitar is a clip-on tuner that offers a 360 degree rotating display for ultimate versatility in viewing. The Snark SN-5 can be used to tune a guitar, bass guitar, mandolin or the violin.

Most musicians will agree that to get their desired sound, proper tuning is a must.  For the Guitar player, that is exactly where the Snark SN-5 Guitar tuner comes in to play. When a guitarist wants a tuner with precision, one that is truly appreciated by the well trained ear, they need look no further.  Known for its sleek design, and precision tuning capabilities, the Snark SN-5 is the top choice of many guitarists.

The SN-5 is basically, a more affordable alternative, to the higher end SN-1 which Snark also produces.  With a couple less bells and whistles, than its big brother, The Snark SN-5 Guitar Tuner does retain the same high standards of tuning accuracy.  The main body of the device itself, as well as the clip are composed of a rugged heavy duty plastic.

The standard clip on feature provides quick and easy accessibility to the tuner in those moments when quick access is a must.

Snark SN-5 Ease of Use

Just attach the SN-5 to your headstock and it will indicate by color how close you are to being in tune. When the green needle is lit up, you’re good to go! You can place this tuner on either the front or the back of your headstock.

According to consumers who have purchased the Snark SN-5, it has outperformed the Inteli IMT5000, and is just as accurate as the Boss TU-12 , (which is a $129.00 Chromatic Tuner). This tuner is also precise enough to help you tune the low E string, a challenge that some low price tuners struggle with.

Snark LED Screen

Another feature common to all Snark tuners, is the LED screen, that is clear, vivid, and a major plus.  As compared to the LCD screen used by many others that can at times be difficult to read in certain lighting conditions.   The Snark SN-5 also has a rotating head that pivots a full three hundred and sixty degrees for great visibility from anywhere, and any position.  This stylish Guitar tuner also comes in a variety of colors including black, red, and blue.

Snark SN-5 Transpose Feature

This model also comes with a transpose feature that will allow you to tune if you are using a capo.

Snark SN-5 Performance

The Snark SN-5 is accurate enough that anyone can use it to tune and instrument properly. In music, we know that the accuracy of our pitch is the most important determining factor in whether our audience will enjoy our music. With this tuner, there is no reason to worry because it is being used by countless musicians today to effectively tune their guitars.

Versatility and Battery

Although it is commonly referred to as the Snark SN-5 Guitar Tuner, It can also be a fully functioning Violin tuner as well, and of course functions as a Bass Guitar tuner.  The tuner is powered by a very long lasting lithium three volt battery.  The unit has a feature designed to shut off when not being directly used, then powers up as needed, enabling the battery to last a very long time. In the event the user did finally wear this battery out it is very simple to change.

Snark SN-5 Conclusion

The overall responsiveness of this tuner is something that certainly stands out.  While many tuners have somewhat of an unsteadiness about them when the needle is sort of wobbling around before zeroing in on what the actual pitch it is registering.  This is just not the case with the SN-5, as it has lighting fast, yet super steady readings on the note being targeted. The display is color segmented in green, red, and yellow, like a traffic light, which gives the user an easy experience in finding the proverbial “sweet spot”.

The Snark SN-5 Guitar Tuner is the complete package of very sharp design, and styling, most musicians tend to associate with Snark product, combined with a solid and precise piece of equipment that outclasses many of the other competitors in similar price ranges.

We recommend the Snark SN-5 highly because of its affordability and ease of use. It also has a nice design that is pleasant on the eye. The only drawback is that this model does not come with a built-in visual metronome that the Snark SN-1 and SN-2 both have.
